Homemade Dog Food Recipe

Homemade Dog Food Recipe

Happy days for your doggo's!

I had been investigating all the good, fresh, ingredients in store bought dog foods, and formulated my own, so I knew what ingredients were included, and my doggo's are in love with it. I give them good quality kibble, topped with a large spoonful of this freshly made, human grade food.  I wouldn't substitute is for a whole meal though. Let me give you the recipe if you'd like to try it for your doggo's!  I found the initial outlay was around AUD $ 40.00 but I make up half at a time which lasts 1 week for 2 doggo's - with a majority of what I cook up frozen, for freshness later in the week.

One week's supply:

1/2kg Kangaroo mince, 2 x boneless Chicken Thighs (cut into cubes), 2 x carrots grated, 1 x large zucchini (cut into quarters), 1/4 small Kent Pumpkin (cut into cubes and skin removed), Flaxseed Oil, 1/2 cup Quinoa, and some Baby Spinach.

Brown chicken in a frypan and then add 500g of the kangaroo mince and cook through. Meanwhile, cook the quinoa in a saucepan to packet instructions.  Pop the vegetables in a microwave save dish with some water for approx. 10 minutes. By this time the meat should be cooked, so take off the heat.

I use a potato masher on the vegetables to soften them up, then add the cooked quinoa to the mixture.  Using a heavy duty stick blender, I then make the vegetables into a smooth mixture. Lastly, I gradually add the meat to the vegetable/quinoa mixture and use the stick blender to ensure smoothness.

I then put some in the fridge, while freezing a good amount to use later in the week too.

*if your doggo can't eat certain foods please omit or replace with something else in the recipe. Please feel free to customise this recipe as you need to.
